Every video editor will have a problem of getting first clients when starting out, because of the lack of portfolio. Expectations and the reality of video editing job can differ quite a bit. And also it's very important to set the goals, why you decided to do this and what is your desired outcome.

In my opinion discipline comes from passion, but how to stay disciplined if you don't feel like it? This trick worked for me multiple times, leaving yourself no plan b, no other choice is something that will help you to discover your limits and push past what you thought you're capable of.
