As a full time filmmaker, I wanted to see if I could create high-quality content on a budget. Watch as I put this LUMIX G7 to the test and share my thoughts on its performance. Are you up for the challenge? My friend Tace pulled up to Studiio with a Porsche Daker and needed a good edit made of this $350,000 Car. He told me I could use any camera to shoot this with and that gave me the perfect opportunity to do the challenge I've been wanting to do! Limiting myself with $500 Dollars I want to see if I could make the best edit possible! I hopped on Facebook Marketplace and started to look around. I found a Lumix G7 and got the price down to $400 and bought an SD card for $15, so perfectly in budget! I also picked up a ND filter because we were going to be shooting on a sunny day in the snow! (had to give this camera the best change I could!) We headed out to the mountains to get some amazing footage. I show you all the different shots you need to get to film this type of video. And guess what, it's ok to look dumb if you get the shot. With using the fundamentals I was able to create an amazing edit, even with this budget camera challenge. Here's some test footage shot handheld on the Canon C70 at 4k 120fps in 10-Bit with the Rec709 profile + Canon RF 28-70 f2.0 lens. Digital Image Stabilization was turned ON. We decided to try a one take of me circling them on the Glidecam HD 2000 for the full 4 minute song. It took 10 or so takes to get the timing and distance down perfectly, which means about 40 minutes of straight glidecamming. Needless today my arm was dead by the time we finished. Ideally I would have used a movi or ronin for this one take, however I did not have one accessible so it became a fun challenge to do it with the glidecam. This film is a compilation of footage taken throughout Lexi and I's courtship, from our TeamSupertramp service trip to Guatemala, and from our engagement week in Lake Powell where I eventually popped the question. It was always a dream of hers to have an engagement video taken in Lake Powell (her favorite place on earth) so I took it upon myself to make it happen by training her little sister Lauren to use my camera equipment to film us during our vacation. I've waited many years to ask this girl to be my wife and am excited to announce our wedding date of August 21, 2015. Here's my first try using the new GoPRO Hero3 Black Edition at 120fps. I used the head mount attachment and wrapped it around my Canon 5D Mark II, which was mounted on my Glidecam HD 2000 and ran around the arena during SUU's home meet vs Utah State and that is how I got these epic smooth moving shots in slow motion. To see a full list of ALL the gear I use: https://kit.co/parkerwalbeck 100% of these shots were done on the new GoPRO, it truly has an amazing quality and it's ability to shoot 120fps is amazing! I highly recommend this camera. I edited everything in Final Cut Pro X and used Optical Flow to get the frame rate even higher on some parts (sometimes resulting in some slight warping) and I colored graded it all in FCPX as well using a pre-made filter called Hard Light. I don't recommend FCPX for color correction but it's all I have to work with right now. All this footage was taken from one gymnastic meet of SUU vs. Utah State last weekend. Due to unpleasantly colored seating we did the video in black and white. Then, after hearing an amazing pre-game speech from SUU professor Grant Corser, we decided to add his words to the video, giving us this final product. First day out with the Glidecam HD 2000. It is a bit tricky to get balanced and obviously takes a lot of practice to get really good. As you can tell it was only my first day, I still have a long way to go but I love the thing! I shot these scenes of the LDS Salt Lake City Temple and the visitor's center with my T3i camera and an 11-16mm Tokina 2.8. All these shots were shot at 11mm. I used a Polarized lens filter. This was edited in Final Cut Pro X, no color correction, a little exposure correction. I used the affect "Optical Flow" on a few shots, so you can notice a few weird blurring spots in some of the slowed down parts... that is mostly due to the fact that I shot this at 24fps instead of 60fps (what I would normally shoot at for slo mo shots) so the frames didn't blend very well on a few of those shots. But this video is mostly just to show that the Glidecame HD 2000 is awesome and works pretty well even for a first day user!!
