The DJI Mavic 3 Pro just launched and it's my new favourite drone. I've put the powerful Hasselblad camera to the test over the last three weeks to see how this drone compares to the DJI Mavic 3 Cine which I've used and loved since January 2021. The standout feature is the tri focal length cameras that compress landscapes and subjects with a clarity and precision unlike any other drone on the market. It has a 3x 70mm and 7x 166mm camera which enhance the viewer's perception of space and distance by compressing a subject against the background giving you a lot more creative control akin to handheld. Here is how I mostly used the tri focal lengths for this video: - 1x Hasselblad Camera: establishing shots and vast landscapes - 3x medium tele camera: Close ups of the subjects tracking them in action (ie big waves crashing, motorbike, surfer and mountain bike rider) I used this camera mostly! - 7x tele camera: Subjects and surroundings compressed against a big landscape in the background. This was great for getting close to the dolphins without disturbing them. Further Specs: - All three cameras support 4K/60fps video specifications. We had the chance to team up with HP Australia to tell an important story about how lucky we are to have art exist in its various forms. A poem, a dance, a score, a film. They are all languages we speak and understand but importantly, they are expressions of a human emotion: regret, hope, wonder, sacrifice. But, what if we didn't have art? What would our world look like and who would we be? These are the questions that are rising in crescendo with artificial intelligence creating art and its impact on humanity. And so, this film represents these two worlds: a world without art and a world with art where creativity represents freedom. Thank you to everyone who shared their time in front of the camera for this film and to HPAustralia for creating a product that is built specifically for creativity while still respecting our biggest canvas - Earth. HP is dedicated to progressing their technology with responsible environmental choices. I love how over 50 of their products are made incorporating ocean-bound plastics. In a couple of years, HP aims to have recycled 1.2 million tonnes of hardware and use 30% post-consumer recycled content plastic across their range. For this film, we travelled to Java in Indonesia for most of the shots, accompanied by Borneo, Portugal, Madeira, Belgium, Berlin and Western Australia. The team and I worked tirelessly in Indo catching 8 flights two weeks all across the country, hiked volcanos at midnight, experienced two earthquakes, scaled up Kelingking Beach at night in an electric storm, and meeting helpful locals along the way. I've been filming for five years, and since 2021 I made the switch the Sony. It was the best decision, creatively. In 2022, I was asked by Sony to become a Sony Creator (Alpha Hybrid Shooter). This film shows some of my favourite clips since using Sony's A7Siii and their G Master II lenses and how they allow me to film in extreme conditions with ease. Art comes in many forms, and for me, I choose to express my creativity through film and live my life to the fullest by experiencing some of the most awe-inspiring places on Earth. This is Rodney Fox he has dedicated 50 years of his life to shark conservation after being dragged to the ocean floor by a Great White Shark. In 1964 after surviving his horrific shark attack, Rodney got back in the water. Behind the safety of worlds first shark cage he designed and built himself. Rodney had to see whether these giants of the deep were really the crazed man eaters everyone was so afraid of. For Rodney fear turned into fascination, he saw how beautiful, curious, and majestic they were. Through research he found that sharks are a necessary part of our oceans ecosystem and humans don’t have a right to kill them just out of fear. It was a such an honour to meet Rodney Fox and his team. I set out on a 4 day expedition to capture footage of great whites and to tell the story of Rodney Fox. Huge waves, shark infested waters, towering cliffs - this is his playground. I had the experience of a lifetime filming this video with Hayden @sa_rips Being in some of the sharkiest waters in the world, this place really got my adrenaline pumping. We sometimes sat in the water for hours, waiting for the right shot, not knowing what was beneath us in the dark water (Hayden does this on a regular basis btw). I was completely out of my comfort zone filming in these huge swells. It was a rare insight into what Hayden has to do everyday to get his incredible photos. I learnt a lot from Hayden, not only about his photography, but about the kind of man I want to be. His love for his family, his drive, his passion, fun loving nature, and willingness to go above and beyond to do what he loves for the rest of his life. Thanks to the amazing team at South Australia Tourism for making all this happen.
