I can't see a significant difference when Dynamic Range Priority is turned on and off which means I am just going to keep it off and not going to worry about it. Here's a look at my most recent Sony FX6 build as I like to run it after 4 years of heavy use. I've recently switched over to 5 inch monitors for a lot of my work. At this stage in my life, I really enjoy refining my kit. There have also been a few new products that have come out recently that help make this rig really tight. One note about the monitor mount. There are an infinite amount of combinations you can create to find the solution you're looking for. This is what I'm working with as we speak but I might refine it slightly as I find parts that do things better. These are the Tokina ATX PRO f2.8 zoom lenses from the 1990s. They came in Canon, Nikon, Pentax, and other various mounts and the autofocus still works great to this day. They have pastel-like bokeh and a wonderful vintage character. The 28-70 has had a cult following in the world of filmmaking for years and after seeing the footage, you’ll see why. I’ve been looking for this lens for a very long time. With both Sony and Leica (R) not making a 28mm f1.4, I’ve had to search far and wide. This Nikon 28mm f1.4D is an autofocus Nikon F mount lens that was manufactured from 1993-2005 with a coating revamp (this version) somewhere in between. It has a single aspherical element towards the rear and some say it’s one of Nikons best lenses ever made. There were only 7333 copies made and it seems most people who have them are keeping them. It’s not easy to find an affordable and mint copy. It was replaced by the 28mm f1.4 E ED but that lens is much bigger and the image is more modern which is not something I wanted. It has an AF/MF clutch and I’m pleased that the MF experience, though only a 90+ degree throw, is pleasing. I’ve wanted this lens because over the years I’ve come to really gravitate towards 28mm for both photography and video and there isn’t a Sony, Leica (R), or many other vintage fast 28mm lenses out there. I have high hopes for this one and you’ll soon see a lot of work coming from this guy.

The @SonyAlphaUniverse A7RV might be my favorite camera and I'll tell you why. It's produced more for me over the last year than any other camera I own. For both photo and video, this camera is rock solid. It's wild that all the new A7 series cameras shoot 10-bit 422 up to 4k 60fps in such a small little package. The A7RV even shoots 8k! I've shot countless commercials and documentaries for @sennheiser , @GeorgNeumannGmbH , and others using these powerful little cameras. Thanks for stopping by and enjoying today's daydream. My wife and I woke up a few weeks back and saw that fog had engulfed our little part of town. We rushed out to catch this rare sight and, of course, I brought a piece of kit to test. This time, the new-to-me Sony A7siii and Tamron 28-70mm f2.8. I also used a 1/8 Tiffen Black Promist filter despite the fog. This was a hike and camera and lens test Overall, I was really impressed with the autofocus of the Tamron lens. Honestly, this is the first time in a long time that I have used autofocus while shooting a video. It's been a few years since the days of Canon for me. I don't plan on moving to Tamron and autofocus lenses for video work. I got this lens because it is so simple, small, and great to take with me anywhere for walking around and for capturing stills. For me, I know Sony well but this was the first time I could take an A7 body that shot 10 bit 422 internal out for a walk. Not to mention, without a monitor - just using the screen. Finally. This and the new FX6 are very very serious cameras. I don't know if I would be so adamant if it wasn't for Joel Famularo and his Phantom Luts. I and the rest of the users of these luts can confidently say that the images coming from the new A7siii and FX6 are 98% Alexa thanks to his luts. Every once and a while but certainly not as much as I'd like I run around the woods or somewhere interesting to just get out and create or to test a new piece of kit. Today my wife Kelly and I went out eager to capture something with the Red Gemini before the next gig. I have a beautiful set of Canon nFD lenses that I just haven't had the right project or the time to really get any real use out of. I took the 24mm f2 and 50mm f1.2 out on this short walk and was so pleased with the look even on the monitor as I was shooting. It was really just an excuse to test out an old anamorphic adapter I had purchased at the time. Since then I've received a few compliments on the film and one or two even lead to a job. At the time I loved how it came together but sort of rushed it and always wished I could go back and color it again. Today I did. I of course used Joel Famularo's Phantom LUTS and love the final piece all over again. It was shot in slog3 on the Sony FS7 with a Nikkor 50mm f1.4 and the Century Optics 16x9 wide adapter. I didn't have any diopters for this shoot hence the lack of close ups. I do have some Vivitar diopters coming and will test those shortly. I use Today's Daydreams for mostly gear tests but also sometimes just when I need to get out and shoot for no good reason. This daydream was captured using the DJI Ronin 1 I needed to test for the first time and Red Epic at 6k shooting mostly 48 frames per second with a 180 degree shutter. I used only two lenses over the course of about an hour of shooting; the Canon 16-35mm f4 Is and 24-105mm f4 IS. I captured the sound of the forest using a Sennheiser 8040 and Sound Devices Mix Pre 3. I graded the video in a monochrome format because I had a vision when I woke up the morning of the shoot. The sky was grey, the light was flat. Thanks for watching! We shot this over the course of two mornings. One for the nursery and one for the landscaping of the private home. We shot it on the Red Epic at 6k HD shooting 48 frames per second, on the Ronin 1 and handheld using the Easyrig Vario 5 with gimbal vest. Even though general literacy has been on the rise in society at large, Biblical literacy has fallen. Many Christians find themselves spending a lot of time reading what people have written about the Bible, which is good, but not actually knowing how to engage with Scripture themselves. What if we had the skills to better grasp the words of Scripture? Starting in January of 2019, we’ll begin “The Year of Biblical Literacy”. This year is designed to guide us through the practice of reading, understanding, and applying the power of Scripture in our everyday lives. We want to immerse ourselves in Scripture not just to be well informed, but because we believe that doing so will ultimately lead us to greater relationship with the one who gave us the Bible in the first place. To do that, we’ll have several layers to the year: First - The Personal Layer - we’ll have a plan for each of us to read through the entire Bible over the course of the year. We’ll have help from creative resources including The Bible Project and the Read Scripture app which will give us critical context, history, and insights. Second - The Communal Layer - small group materials that align with the personal reading plan will be available to every Trinity group and we’re encouraging as many groups as possible to use them so that we can journey through scripture together. Finally - The Sunday Layer - our teaching series for the year will cover major Biblical themes and questions and also creatively follow the personal reading plan. This is something that our whole church family will do together, Trinity Kids and Trinity Youth will also have age specific programming. Whether you’re exploring faith for the very first time, or if you’ve been a follower of Jesus for a while, we believe there’s something for all of us over the course of this year. After watching snow drop in slow motion all day, I couldn't help but get out and capture some for myself. I went down by the water and caught it right before the snow stopped and even had a seagull pose for me. I shot 4k 60fps and 1080 120fps with the 1DX mark ii and 70-200mm f2.8 L ii. I used the ol' trusty Prolost picture profile, graded in FCPX for contrast, and added a touch of Film Convert Portra 400.

So I was able to pick up a used FS700 for a crazy good price and fill my hunger for super slow motion footage. Here are a couple clips from the past two days. Right off the bat I notice that the 240 fps quality is great. It's what I need it to be. However, the picture profile I've been using, with the blacks all the way up at +15 is introducing noise. I will continue to search out sweet frames with this camera and play with profile settings.
