Much like disposable film cameras of the 90s and 00s, 8mm film or Super 8 is my not so new hit of nostalgia creation. Although the cameras themselves are relatively in-expense (I think I picked this one up on eBay for around £70 / $90 4 of 5 years ago now), purchasing some film from Kodak and then paying for the processing and scanning of it after you've shot is not cheap. Both directing and working as the director of photography this was one of the first times... actually maybe the first time I worked as the cinematographer on a job that had budget enough to hire both the Arri Alexa Mini camera and the Cooke S4 lenses. It was also the first time there was budget enough for some help with the grade, getting to work with a professional colourist on a few of the films. This video is not a step by step guide on how you can shoot for Adidas. It's just my personal story on how it happened for me. One day maybe I'll get to direct a commercial spot for them... but then again maybe not.
