I am showing 4 ways you can create or add Cinema aspect ratio in Davinci Resolve. Aspect ratio like 2.0, 2.35, 1.33, 1.66, 1.85, etc. You can use the famous method of adding the black bars, crop your video, define the height of your video in master settings or simply click the aspect ration that Davinci resolve provided. Neither method is better than the other. Each method has its own advantages.

I spoke to a friend of mine who does music, audio recording and ofcourse postprocessing, to give me tips on recording and post processing of my audio. He advised that the placement of my mic has been a problem and even better i should use shotgun mic if i have one.

Zoom F2 is a portable powerful, 32 bit float audio recording device. Great for weddings, monologues, speeches, etc. Because of the 32 bit float it virtually don't clip. Here I am recommending why buying the Bluetooth version is important. The Bluetooth version helps with monitoring the recoding, visually seeing the battery, the amount of time it takes and the amount of space left in the SD card. Formatting on the phone app is available and can rename files on the fly.

This is a short video where we used Canon C70 to cover a live music in the cave. We had lights issues and ended up lighting the stage and Audience with Godox VL150 + 65D Lantern as main light and RGB lights running from DMX controller. W had to pump C70 to ISO 5000, f2.8 and shooting 4K 10 bit Clog 2. I have added some sharpness and denoised it on Davinci Resolve. Noise on original is minimal.

The Rode wireless GoII is the second generation of small wireless audio device that has two transmitters and one receiver. It is my go to mobile audio device and has a great audio preamp. The biggest problem to me thus far is that when I use it with a mic handle it does clip. Mainly when a preacher or singer are loud. The -30 Db together with the -4 Db Pad does nothing to counter this. It is really a serious problem to a successful product and can damage its reputation. I hope it will be solved soon.

a list of 5 challenges that DJI Ronin S2 can throw at you on set and how to fix them. The heavy sided camera needs a counter weight as long as the whole weight is less than 4.5KG which is the spec. Be careful of the sleep mode button. If the camera accidentally goes to sleep mode, double tap the power button and it will come out of sleep mode. A camera with long eyepiece can be balanced on the tilt motor by balancing it horizontally, then put it at 45 degrees to finish balancing the tilt motor. If the motors still vibrates after auto tune, click the gimbal icon that looks like camera vibrating and tune the stiffness manually.

The Transcend CFast 2.0 Card Reader RDF2 USB 3.1 is a cheaper but fast card reader. I am happy that I could see speed up to 420 MB/S maintained while copying RAW files. As a content creator I need a fast intermediate adapter so that I can dump files faster without having to spend long hours waiting for the card to copy onto thew PC.

Canon Raw Light is a powerful 12 bit codec that gives creatives power on postproduction by having leeway of choosing some parameters way after they left the set. Canon Raw Light on the C70 is 12 bit, 444, meaning more data and more colors for colorists to play and or push the boundaries compared to 10 bit 422.

I am showing a cheap alternative to the CFast when you want to shoot RAW on Canon C200. I am installing a CFast adapter that I have put 1TB SSD SATA. The 128 GB CFast can shoot only 15 minutes of RAW on Canon C200. The alternative with 1TB SSD is cheaper and can shoot just over 2 hours of RAW.

Never miss manual focusing ring direction on a Canon mirrorless camera. Canon has a great manual focus assist feature. The feature doesn't only work better than peaking, it also gives you a visualization of which direction to turn the lens ring. It uses the 4 arrows. Two at the top and two at the bottom. Depending on which arrows has separated, you will know which direction to turn the lens ring to acquire focus.

Loosing video setting on Canon EOS R? The Canon EOS R by default looses the video exposure settings when you do hybrid shooting. This video demontrates a way to keep the exposure settings throughout and not loosing them. The solution is buried deep in the camera and the key is Custom Setting Bank "C3". If you have a hard drive that was formatted on Mac and install it on Windows, chances are you will not be able to read it. If the hard drive is empty, it is a lot easier to read it on disk management on Windows PC and format it from there. You don not need any other plugin or software to read it. If there is data that you need to read from the drive you will have to install another piece of software to read it.

Showing how to prep the camera and ultimately balance it on the DJI Ronin SC2 Gimbal. The preparation of the camera to remove anything that is not required during operation is very important. Put the lens hood on as it help to eliminate unwanted light from the lens. Connect any other gadget or cable that will be used during the shoot. The last step is critical which is to do auto tune. The gimbal tune the motors according to the weight it senses and gives ultimate power to the motor.

I will be doing couple of videos on a colorful scene using 5 light sources. I though I would just do a video going over the light sources and how i corrected and graded the scene on premiere pro. The scene is shot on Fujifilm Xt4 + Fujifilm 16mm f1.4 lens. I used the vivid colors on my two desktop monitors. A cellphone torch to illuminate some of the parts on the scene. Yongnou YN300 as my main light. I added a box to flag some light that was spilling on my keyboard. I added more Colour, the teal from the keyboard, red from the mouse and purple from the GVM RGB light.

How I power my mirrorless cameras for different scenarios when filming or shooting video. Mirrorless cameras are now the in thing as they are cheaper and provides high quality videos. The issue is how to power them to as light as possible but also as long as possible for different shooting / filming scenarios. I am demonstrating with Fujifilm XT4 and XT3. Mirrorless and DSLR cameras are attractive to shoot video at the price point and abundant choice of lenses. One thing though that terrorize the situation is the constant overheating of cameras. The bodies are too small to fit a fan and also that might make them more expensive. Here on the video i am talking about few tricks that I use to keep my camera cool and postpone overheating. Update your camera firmware. Keep the camera in a shaded are or shade. Get out of the direct sunlight. Do not use on a window where it is exposed to the sunlight. Choose a cool space in a rook. Use stabilizers to handle the camera. Do not charge while shooting.

Its about 5 reasons i like the Zoom H1 + H1n & 5 ways I use it. The Zoom H1 and Zoom H1n are the cheaper best entry level audio devices to record directly on to the Micro SD card. They also record to other external devices like a camera via the line out. The line out is also used for audio monitoring via 3.5mm jack. They come with onboard microphone though you can plug in the lapel or 3.5mm jackexternal microphone. The use of batteries makes them portable. I use them for weddings, interview, podcast, YouTube, field recording and other more uses.

I am explaining & showing a sample of one of the clips a Umbondo event where I shot entirely with the Fujifilm XT4 while it was in a cage and handheld. I am also explaining the basics of stabilization with mechanical stabilizer, shoulder rig, cage and Zhiyun Weebill S electronic stabilizer. The XT4 was only on IBIS and not electronic stabilizer. The shot I am showing was filmed on log profile edited and graded on Adobe Premiere Pro.

Fujifilm has released Fujifilm XT4 firmware update V1.20 that amongst other updates it raised the cut-off temperature a bit. I did the test to see if its true and by how much. The firmware update version V1.20 did improve the time by between 20-25minutes in my test. bear in mind that it will depend on many factors. My settings were 4K 50P, 8bit @100mbps. I was indoor at about 24-25 degrees Celsius. The firmware update v1.20 is a welcome upgrade and will help in my longer projects. I will in future do the 10 bit test and also HD test to see what the difference is between this test and those. Part 2 video follows from the bedroom shoot we did at a hotel in Sandton, South Africa. I used Fujifilm XT3 (Astia Simulation) + Fujinon XF 16-55 f2.8 lens & smooth motion created with Zhiyun Weebill S Gimbal. Weebill S has strong motors to handle the 16-55mm f2.8 which is one of the Fuji heavier lenses. It also setup very easily and quickly.

The Godox VL150 is a powerful, portable yet cheaper LED light comparable with Aperture 120D. This video was shot in a small hotel room while a friend was photographing the lady. The hotel room was darker than ideal with a bit of window light from one side. I bounced off the God VL150 Light at about 35 % without a modifier (Bare bulb) and face it opposite to the window light. it created a nice even light to work with. Shot with Fujifilm XT3 using Astia Simulation + Viltrox 56mm F1.4 lens, Handheld.

I used Fujifilm Xt4 with Viltrox 56mm f1.4 lens connected to Black Magic Monitor Video Assist set at ProRes 422 handheld in a DIY Sevenoak Cage. The Viltrox lens is very sharp and fast on autofocus. The Fujifilm XT4 was used on both manual and autofocus. film Edited & Color graded on Adobe Premiere Pro Lumetri. Music is from Audiio. The XT4 Inbody Stabilization (IBIS) works great after learning how to use it, especially with some ninja walk technique.

This is a quick cheat video for still photographers who want a quick video setup to take some clips or starting to learn to shoot videos with their mirrorless or dslr cameras. I use this settings and tips myself but can tweak as necessary once one understand the theory beind.

Great gadget for content creators, motivational speakers, show presenters and hosts, etc. If you have been struggling to construct good grammar like me, teleprompter can definitely help you. It takes some learning but definitely it works. This is my second video using it and I'm not there yet but getting there. Unfortunately it has to go back to its owner but its one of the gadgets I will look into in the future.

I was testing Fujifilm Xt4 Crop sensor Apex camera slow-motion capabilities. I shot the lady on the film test at 200fps with auto eye detection enables. She was walking at a regular pace. The camera can go to 240fps but since i am in PAL country i rather keep to 200fps but will next time test the the 240fps. I had a shot period to give back the camera and couldn't go shoot a very fast moving subject but definitely I will do that in future. The camera was still a test camera body and I'm not sure what version of the firmware was. The slow-motion is impressive even though there are signs of moiré on her pattern dress.

Here are the results I got from testing Fujifilm XT4 battery time on 4K UHD 50fps and recording to dual slots. With same settings I tested the overheating time.

fujifilm 18-55mm lens is a great kit lens for both video and photography.
