Many lenses used today in video, started out as photography lenses and some, almost 50 years later are still being used by videographers and content creators for their unique look and character. That character is sometimes a flaw in the lens that makes it easier to transmit a certain feeling on camera, easy flaring, special bokeh, etc. In this video I try to showcase some of that character the Tokina 28-85 F/4 has, a lens first manufactured in 1978. My lens is made around 1985 so it's as old as I am. What if you want to film someone on a bicycle or car, someone on a lake or in a boat over 50-100-200m away ? We tried using the Shimbol ZO1000 and first with a test and there were no issues at around 50m, the image looks clean, no interruptions, no artefacts, then 100m, then 200m. And then with a test at OVER 300m so over the 1000ft the Shimbol said their ZO1000 could handle.. We did around 350m, measured on google maps. In recent years what I started to appreciate is moving all my lights, moving all my gear from the home studio to the shoot and back again , not very flashy, but critical because the day before it’s all about packing and remembering all the SSDs and lights and lens and filters. Recently we took our Max Cases on a shoot near a beautiful and the great thing about the Max Cases is how well they are made and how many things you can fit inside them. I usually fit 2 or 3 lens, at least one camera with all the accessories and having a few of these makes our work much easier. You just secure the gear in the cases and you can use that energy on how the lights moves during the day and how good can you make the shot. I have used the Tiffen Black Pro Mist filters but decided to get my hands on the K&F Concept Nano-X Pro MRC Black Mist diffusion filters too and don't regret my decision at all. I recently bought a Fuji x100 because I wanted to fall in love again with the idea of photography, especially street photography. I say again because I`ve been a long time user of the Sony full frame system having had the Sony a7r, the ar72 and now the a7r3 and for a couple years filming with the Sony a7s II all of them with different Sony, Sigma or Tamron lenses. This is not a video about Fuji or about Sony but about my journey from a full frams system that now I mostly use in the studio to a lower end camera that is more… fun.
