Look around: to one side, Vilnius’s newer business district with its gleaming glass buildings; to the other, the first hints of the old town peeking through the trees. As of 2020, Capron had a population of 141 residents. The town encompasses 0.17 square miles, all of which are land. A few weeks back, we embarked on this initial drive, all geared up and excited, expecting to see some beautiful snowfall that night. But, as luck would have it, the snow didn’t come at all! In the late 1920s, the old Boydton Plank Road was upgraded and paved to create U.S. Highway 1, a major route from Maine to Florida. Restaurants, service stations, motels, and general stores popped up along the highway, making it a vibrant stop for travelers until the mid-1970s when the new interstate system rerouted much of the traffic away from the aging highway. By then, family farming was also declining, reducing the demand for local services. I spent the week in Nashville for a conference, and after days of sitting through presentations and continuous networking, I finally squeezed out a couple of hours to explore "Honky Tonk Highway." Lower Broadway was everything I expected—over-the-top neon signs competing for attention and live music blaring from every doorway like they were trying to outdo each other in sheer volume. The streets were packed with tourists chasing their idea of the "Nashville experience," hopping from bar to bar, drinks in hand, with all the subtlety of a stampede. It felt more like a spectacle than an authentic dive into the city’s musical soul. I dutifully wandered through a few of the famous honky-tonks, hoping to catch a glimpse of what makes this place so legendary. Tootsie’s was as packed and chaotic as you'd expect, and while the live music was good, it was hard to shake the feeling that this whole stretch had become a caricature of itself—like country music’s theme park. It has been a few years since I stopped and walked around Drakes Branch, maybe in 2014 or before. I remember it as a lovely town with a bit of an economy; businesses were open, most buildings were occupied, and there were some people. This time in 2024, I walked the length of downtown and never saw another person, it was literally a ghost town. I have to believe that the town’s troubles started in early 2005, with the closure of the textile plant located just North of downtown. I can only hope that Drakes can recover. Drakes Branch is a small, delightful town in Charlotte County, Virginia. With just over 500 residents, it embodies the classic characteristics of rural Virginia: a tight-knit community, historical roots, and scenic landscapes. The town's history dates back to the late 19th century, when it served as a hub for the railroad industry. Named after the nearby Drake’s Branch stream, the town flourished during the expansion of railroads in the region, which brought economic opportunities and facilitated the growth of agriculture and small businesses. Despite its small size, Burkeville’s commitment to preserving its historical landmarks, particularly the railroad station, is a testament to its dedication to honoring its past and educating future generations about the vital role this seemingly modest town played in American history. Burkeville currently has no main street, but what remains of downtown extends about a half block south from 1st and Agnew Streets. Agnew Street is named after Ella Graham Agnew, the USDA’s first female field demonstration agent. I was headed South and decided to take a little side track through Burkeville. I saw an eastbound freight train pass through, and I decided to loop through the town quickly. As I passed over the tracks, I noticed a freight train with its lights on, and I felt it was getting ready to get underway, I was right. In the spring of 2023, we visited the East side of the Czech Republic, Primarily Olomouc. On the recommendation of a friend, we took a day trip to her hometown of Hranice na Moravia. She shared a recent news article about the stork’s return and how she enjoyed watching the storks from her family’s nearby apartment as a child. That is more than enough of a reason for us, and we have a very weird criterion for making travel decisions. We flew to Warsaw to buy handmade hairbrushes and Copenhagen for a pork belly sandwich (I would do it again). Don’t get me wrong, we have other reasons to go, but the trigger is usually really weak. Our biggest mistake in visiting Hranice was not allowing enough time—maybe an overnighter. It is a lovely little town with very few English speakers, and my Czech is questionable at best—ask my friend. I often apologized for making her ears bleed due to my terrible pronunciation. When I have to talk to someone in Czech and they have limited English, I always tell them “mluv se mnou, jako by mi byly tři roky” or “talk to me like I am a three-year-old” That always lightens up any situation I made a few logistical mistakes, like leaving my telephoto lens in Olomouc and not realizing until halfway through creating this video that many of the images and all the videos I shot were still embargoed as I took them on two cameras that I was beta testing at the time. I am beginning to think that I will never be able to publish them. Hranice is not for everyone if cannot understand or read Czech and don’t like testing the limits of your comfort zone, it may not be for you We are discussing the possibilities of returning to Hranice in 2025, I can hardly wait.

I have been trying to get this for the past few weeks, and the flowers have been messing with me. Blooming when I was gone, not blooming when I had cameras pointing at them. Finally, I was opening the front door this morning, so that cat can watch the world go by, his favorite past-time, I saw them just about ready to bloom. With a population of approximately 37,000, Hillerød exudes a peaceful atmosphere that is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our visit took place on April 24th, when the sun shone brightly, and a slight chill lingered in the air, adding to the tranquility of the surroundings. The grandeur of Frederiksborg Castle left me in awe, and I found myself wishing for more time to delve deeper into the town's rich history and explore the beautiful castle grounds. I hope to return in the future to indulge in a more extensive exploration of this captivating destination. If you ever find yourself in Copenhagen, I can't recommend enough taking the train and spending a day exploring this beautiful city. This was my first time editing with LumaFusion, I know I have more to learn, but I am trying.

Highlights of my recent flight on SAS Flight 925 on April 25, 2024, departing CPH to IAD. Seat 25H on this A-330 is not the best seat to make a video from due to the window alignment, but I did my best. The aircraft is an 8-year-old Airbus A330 LN-RKS. If you have never made a trans-oceanic flight, just loop this about 60 times, and you get the idea of just how boring long flights can be. :-) This was shot on a DJI Osmo Pocket 3, at 60 frames per second and rendered at 120 frames per second. On April 25, 2024, I boarded SAS Flight 925 from Copenhagen to Washington Dulles, settling into seat 25H. Though the window alignment wasn't ideal for filming, I aimed to capture the essence of the journey aboard the eight-year-old Airbus A330, LN-RKS. As we taxied towards Runway 22R, the engines roared to life, and the aircraft gracefully lifted off, offering a fleeting view of Copenhagen's twinkling lights as we ascended. Despite having to cut the first minute of my recording due to background music, the takeoff was thrilling, with the city's glow gradually fading beneath us. As we climbed higher into the evening sky, the last hints of twilight gave way to a star-filled night. The serene ambiance was complemented by the Airbus A350's modern systems, casting a warm glow inside the cabin. While my seat's view was limited, the experience of witnessing the takeoff and the transition to night was captivating. Despite the minor setbacks, SAS Flight 925 provided a memorable journey, highlighting the magic of flight and the unique perspectives it offers.

We used to be just Kenbridge, but we have recently become Charming Kenbridge. We are a small town of around 1,200 souls, located in Lunenburg County in Southside Virginia, roughly mid-way between Richmond, VA, and Raleigh, NC. The constant flow of people needing their Instagram selfies with The Little Mermaid. For those that don't know: The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen Harbor is a famous and iconic sculpture that has become synonymous with the Danish capital. Perched gracefully on a rock at the Langelinie promenade, this bronze statue depicts a mermaid becoming human, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairy tale "The Little Mermaid." Unveiled in 1913, the statue was a gift from Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen to the city of Copenhagen. Sculpted by Edvard Eriksen, it measures just 1.25 meters tall, creating a subtle yet poignant presence. Over the years, the statue has not only been a major tourist attraction but has also endured vandalism and restorations, reflecting its significant cultural and historical value. It's often admired for its artistry and the poignant story it represents.

The houses at Amalienborg are open for tours when the queen is not in residence, apparently, the queen was in residence because the houses were not open, nor was Frederik's Church. This was my first-ever visit to an actual monarchy, was initially surprised to see the royal guards doing their royal guard stuff in traditional uniforms. There was some activity, and it appeared that there may be a change of the guard soon, but it happened much later

This might be a bit too much, and it did sound much better in Person. Trinitatis Church was completed in 1651 to be part of a building complex for the University of Copenhagen. The Church was commissioned in 1637 by King Christian the 4th. I believe the Organ was added after the fire in 1730

A time-lapse of Halloween night in Kenbridge a small rural town in southern Virginia population of ~1,200 people. This is a typical Halloween for us. The time-lapse ran from 5PM to 8PM, technically the semi-official hours for trick or treating. Starts slow, fast-forward to the 50-second mark for actual trick-or-treaters. This is the beautiful St. Josephs Church, on the South side of the Vistula River on Podgórski Market Square. The church was built between 1904 and 1909, the consecration of the church occurred on October 24, 1909. The church was renovated to its current form in 1978. This is an absolutely gorgeous church, and if you happen to visit Kraków, I recommend a visit. Spent most of the day just wandering around Kraków, with no particular destination, we ended up on Rynek Glowny or the Main Market square. WE found a place to sit and watch and listen to the surroundings while enjoying our Obwarzanek krakowski (Kraków Bagels). My wife was not a big fan and she found a gimpy pigeon with a messed up eye, and decided to feed it, and you know you cannot just feed one pigeon. The two of them did a pretty good job of keeping the majority of the other birds away, as the bird really had no fear of us, where the other birds did. My plan was to create a time-lapse of activity on the square, but that was taken over by pigeon activities.

We took a walk-up Mostowa street, from Father Bernatek's footbridge. I took some stills along the way and finished with a time-lapse while sitting on a bench in the square, waiting on my wife, who was shopping at Art Cherubino. Art Cherubino is a small store specializing in hand-made items related to angels and such.

On the 81st anniversary of the gun battle. The National Memorial to the Heroes of Heydrich Terror is located in the underground of the Orthodox cathedral of St. Cyril and Methodius. After the successful assassination of Reinhard Heydrich by Jozef Sabik and Jan Rubí, the seven Czech paratroopers hid in this churches catacombs. Adolf Opalka, Jozef Gabčik, Jan Kubiš, Josef Valčik, Josef Bublik, Jan Huby and Jaroslav Svarc were the seven Czech paratrooper heroes, who lost their lives that day, at the hands of the Nazis. A roughly 80 mile (ca. 129 km) loop starting in Tappahannock up to Port Royal, crossing the Rappahannock river, and down through Leedstown to 360 and back to Tappahannock finishing at the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge for a beautiful sunset. I had not intended to do any video this trip, but as I looked at the pictures I took, they had a bit of a story to tell. I wish I had taken more pictures at some of the other stops, but Vauters Church was gorgeous, and the sunset came out great. We initially went seeking a spot to photograph the sunset from the East bank of the river, but we have not been in this area in years. On the map, Leedstown looked very promising, unfortunately there was no place to park, and it was all posted no trespassing. We "settled" for the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge, which turned out to be perfect. This is my first attempt doing this, and I intend to do more of it, but plan it out.
