What Can You Find in a Town of 126 People?
Virgilina, Virginia is a small town with a name that speaks directly to its geography, situated right on the border between Virginia and North Carolina. This unique location has played a role in its history and development. While seemingly quiet today, the town holds a past rich in industry and activity, offering a glimpse into the economic forces that shaped this part of the South. Its position on the state line also meant it was a point of connection and-sometimes-transition for people and goods moving between the two states. For a period, Virgilina was a notable center for copper mining. This industry brought a surge of activity and residents to the area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The demand for copper fueled a local boom, transforming the landscape with mines and supporting businesses. Complementing this industrial activity was the importance of tobacco farming in the surrounding region. The convergence of mining and agriculture gave the town its economy during this era, attracting workers and entrepreneurs alike and shaping the community's character. Adding to its historical significance, Virgilina was a stop on the Atlantic and Danville Railway. This rail connection was vital for transporting the copper and tobacco produced in the area to broader markets and for bringing in supplies and people. The railway was an essential link for the town, facilitating trade and communication until well into the 20th century. The railroad's presence further solidified Virgilina's role as a regional hub during its most prosperous years. Incorporated in 1900, Virgilina's early days as a municipality are documented in fascinating detail through its initial town council records. These records reveal not only the administrative structure of the nascent town but also provide insights into the daily concerns and social norms of the time through the ordinances that were enacted. Rules governing public behavior, sanitation, and even the display of goods highlight the efforts to establish order and-sometimes-reflect the unique challenges and character of a bustling border and mining town at the turn of the century. #ExploreVirginia #PaulsBeenThere #VirgilinaVA #VirginiaTown #HalifaxCountyVA #BorderTown #CopperMiningHistory #AtlanticAndDanvilleRailway #VirginiaHistory #SmallTownLiving #VirgilinaPast #ExploreVirginia #SouthernVirginia #HistoricTown *Help This Channel grow:* *Buy Me a Coffee:* https://ko-fi.com/perusse *My Amazon Affiliate link:* https://amzn.to/3Q9kV2Z *Gear I use:* Apple iPhone 16Pro: https://www.apple.com/iphone-16-pro/ * *Hohem iSteady M7 Gimbal:* https://amzn.to/3WS3Y17 * *DJI Osmo Pocket 3:* https://amzn.to/3Q9mP3H * *DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro:* https://amzn.to/3CHYr6g * *DJI Mic 2:* https://amzn.to/3Eq21mb ©2025 Kenbridge Cyber LLC

Exploring Vilnius: A Scenic Walk from the River to Gediminas Tower
There’s something timeless about winter in Vilnius. If you’re visiting Lithuania’s capital in the colder months, one of the best ways to experience its soul is a peaceful walk along the Neris River—from the modern White Bridge, through the heart of the city, up to the historic Gediminas Castle Tower. *Starting at the White Bridge: A Modern Touch* Our walk begins at the White Bridge (Baltasis tiltas), a clean-lined pedestrian crossing over the slow, steel-gray waters of the Neris River. You’ll see locals bundled in long coats, briskly walking or pausing with a takeaway coffee, their breath puffing in the cold air. Look around: to one side, Vilnius’s newer business district with its gleaming glass buildings; to the other, the first hints of the old town peeking through the trees. It’s a meeting point between the present and the past. *Strolling the Neris River Promenade* Following the paved riverbank path, you'll walk through a corridor of bare trees and quiet calm. Snow clings to the branches like lacework. Across the river, pastel-hued historic buildings and church spires dot the skyline. The river moves slowly, sometimes partially frozen, reflecting the pale winter sun or soft falling snow. This stretch is ideal for photography, especially around golden hour as the sky begins to tint purple and pink. *Crossing the King Mindaugas Bridge* As you near the King Mindaugas Bridge, the architecture shifts. You’re now at the threshold of Vilnius’s Old Town. The grand Vilnius Cathedral and its neoclassical columns come into view, standing calmly amid the wintry stillness. Crossing the bridge, you can feel the centuries settle around you. This is where the atmosphere changes—less city hum, more echo of the past. *Climbing Gediminas’ Hill* Just ahead is Gediminas Hill, it’s a short but brisk climb, and each step brings you closer to one of Lithuania’s most iconic symbols. Unless you're lazy like us, just take the funicular. At the summit, the Gediminas Castle Tower rises proudly against the sky. Built of red brick and history, it stands watch over the capital. *The View From the Top* At the top, turn around. Below you, Vilnius stretches out like a fairytale: the slow bend of the Neris and the golden glow of streetlamps flickering to life in the evening. The silence is deep. Peaceful. Almost sacred. No matter how cold it is, you’ll want to stay a little longer. 00:00 The White Bridge & Business District 00:04 Vilnius City Municipality Building 00:11 CUP Shopping Center 01:10 Church of St. Archangel Raphael 01:38 Neris River 01:53 Hilary Raduszkiewicz's Palace 02:11 Lithuanian Forest Owners Association 02:23 The Lithuanian Environmental Protection Agency 02:42 The Green Bridge 02:46 The Pipe 02:49 Energy and Technology Museum 03:02 Gediminas' Hill 03:14 King Mindaugas Bridge 03:25 Vrublevskis' Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences 03:34 The Old Arsenal 04:16 Gediminas Castle Tower 04:45 Palace of Culture and Sports Artist Name: Kveld Song Name: Traumskeid (Instrumental) License #: 0153368045 Artist Name: Yoav llan Song Name: Waltz With The Stars (Instrumental) License #: 2572351701 *Help This Channel grow:* *Buy Me a Coffee:* https://ko-fi.com/perusse *My Amazon Affiliate link:* https://amzn.to/3Q9kV2Z *Gear I use:* Apple iPhone 16Pro: https://www.apple.com/iphone-16-pro/ * *Hohem iSteady M7 Gimbal:* https://amzn.to/3WS3Y17 * *DJI Osmo Pocket 3:* https://amzn.to/3Q9mP3H * *DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro:* https://amzn.to/3CHYr6g * *DJI Mic 2:* https://amzn.to/3Eq21mb * Click for a discounted subscription to [Audiio](https://audiio.com/partner?oid=1&affid=1776 "Audii") * = Affiliate link #PaulsBeenThere #VilniusWalks #WinterInVilnius #GediminasTower #NerisRiver #LithuaniaTravel #VilniusViews #BalticWinter #TravelVilnius #SnowyAdventures #EuropeInWinter #HistoricVilnius #WhiteBridgeToGediminas ©2025 Kenbridge Cyber LLC

Exploring Weldon, NC: The Rockfish Capital of the World
Weldon, North Carolina, is a small town located in Halifax County, nestled in the northeastern part of the state near the Virginia border. With a population of just over 1,500 residents, Weldon embodies the charm and simplicity of rural Southern life. The town was incorporated in 1876 and owes much of its early development to the railroad industry, as it served as a key stop along the Wilmington and Weldon Railroad, one of the longest rail lines in the world at the time of its completion in 1840. Today, Weldon retains its historical roots while offering a quiet, close-knit community atmosphere for its residents. The Roanoke River plays a significant role in Weldon’s identity and history. Flowing just south of the town, the river has long been a source of recreation, sustenance, and economic activity. Weldon is particularly known for its association with the annual shad and striped bass migrations, earning it the nickname "Rockfish Capital of the World." Fishing enthusiasts flock to the area each spring to take part in this natural spectacle, which has become a celebrated local tradition. The river also offers opportunities for boating, kayaking, and enjoying the scenic beauty of the surrounding landscape. Historically, Weldon has been shaped by its strategic location and transportation links. Beyond the railroad, the town sits near Interstate 95, making it accessible for travelers and commerce. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Weldon thrived as a hub for cotton and tobacco trade, industries that defined much of the region’s economy. While those industries have since declined, the town preserves its heritage through landmarks like the Weldon Historic District, which features well-preserved architecture from its boom years, including Victorian homes and old commercial buildings that hint at its prosperous past. Today, Weldon is a peaceful place where community ties run deep. The town hosts events like the Weldon Christmas Parade and supports local businesses that give it a distinct character. Though small, Weldon is part of the larger Roanoke Valley region, which offers additional amenities and attractions, such as Lake Gaston, a popular spot for outdoor enthusiasts. For those seeking a slower pace of life with a touch of history and natural beauty, Weldon, North Carolina, remains a hidden gem in the Tar Heel State. 00:00 Intro 00:25 Boat Ramp 00:49 Talking about Rockfish 02:33 Speedboat going upstream 02:43 Weldon Distillery 03:47 Weldon Town Hall and PD 04:10 The Railroad Depots 06:45 The Streets of Weldon 08:02 The Old Bank 09:13 Coca-Cola Sign 09:40 The Car Wash 10:16 Misc Retail 10:42 Red Wagon Eclectic Market *Help This Channel grow:* *Buy Me a Coffee:* https://ko-fi.com/perusse *My Amazon Affiliate link:* https://amzn.to/3Q9kV2Z *Gear I use:* Apple iPhone 16Pro: https://www.apple.com/iphone-16-pro/ * *Hohem iSteady M7 Gimbal:* https://amzn.to/3WS3Y17 * *DJI Osmo Pocket 3:* https://amzn.to/3Q9mP3H * *DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro:* https://amzn.to/3CHYr6g * *DJI Mic 2:* https://amzn.to/3Eq21mb * Click for a discounted subscription to [Audiio](https://audiio.com/partner?oid=1&affid=1776 "Audii") * = Affiliate link Artist Name: Jones Island Song Name: Airplane (Instrumental) License #: 1939769178 #ExploreVirginia #PaulsBeenThere #WeldonNC #RockfishCapital #RoanokeRiver #SmallTownVibes #WeldonHistory #NCRailroadRoots #HalifaxCounty #SouthernCharmNC #WeldonLife #FishingWeldon #TarHeelTowns #RoanokeValley ©2025 Kenbridge Cyber LLC

With a population of approximately 15,000, it offers a blend of small-town charm and historical significance. The city owes its name and development to the Roanoke River, which flows through the region and historically powered its economy. Founded in the late 19th century, Roanoke Rapids grew as a mill town, with the establishment of textile mills attracting workers and shaping the community’s identity. Today, it is proof of its resilience, adapting to modern times while retaining echoes of its industrial past. The Roanoke River remains a defining feature of the city, not just geographically but culturally. It provides recreational opportunities like fishing, boating, and kayaking, attracting both locals and visitors. The river’s rapids, which inspired the city’s name, once powered the textile industry through hydroelectric energy, a legacy still visible in the form of the Roanoke Rapids Dam. Beyond the river, Lake Gaston—a nearby man-made reservoir—offers additional outdoor activities, making the area a haven for nature enthusiasts. This natural beauty contrasts with the city’s industrial roots, creating a unique balance of wilderness and heritage. Economically, Roanoke Rapids has faced challenges as the textile industry declined in the late 20th century, a fate shared by many Southern mill towns. However, the city has worked to diversify its economy. The construction of the Roanoke Rapids Theatre (formerly the Royal Palace Theatre) aimed to boost tourism and entertainment, though it has seen mixed success. Local businesses, healthcare, and education now significantly sustain the community. Halifax Community College, located in nearby Weldon, also serves as an educational hub, offering residents opportunities for growth and skill development. Culturally, Roanoke Rapids embraces its history while fostering a tight-knit community spirit. The city hosts events like the Halifax County Arts Festival and seasonal celebrations that bring residents together. Its historic district, with preserved buildings from the early 20th century, offers a glimpse into its mill-town heyday. The Roanoke Canal Museum and Trail is another highlight, chronicling the canal’s role in powering the region’s industry and providing a scenic path for walking or biking. These attractions reflect a pride in the past and a commitment to sharing it with future generations. Despite its charms, Roanoke Rapids grapples with issues common to rural America, including population decline and economic stagnation. Yet, its proximity to Interstate 95 keeps it connected to larger cities like Raleigh and Richmond, offering potential for growth. The community’s affordability and natural and historical assets make it appealing to those seeking a quieter life. As Roanoke Rapids continues to evolve, it remains a place where the past informs the present, and the river still runs through its heart. #ExploreVirginia #PaulsBeenThere #walksonmain # RoanokeRapids #RRNorthCarolina #RoanokeRiver #MillTownLegacy #LakeGastonLife #HalifaxCountyNC #RoanokeCanal #SmallTownVibes #NCOutdoorFun #TextileHistory #RoanokeRapidsTheatre #RiverCityNC ©2025 Kenbridge Cyber LLC

I was not prepared and had no research, so everything is off the cuff. I hope you enjoy Gretna, Virginia, is a small town nestled in Pittsylvania County, embodying the charm and simplicity of rural Southern life. With a population of around 1,267 as of the 2010 census, it’s a tight-knit community where the pace is slow, and the people are friendly. Originally known as Elba, the town was incorporated in 1901, but its history stretches back further to the Civil War era when the land was deeded as payment for a substitute soldier. In 1914, the name changed to Gretna, inspired by Gretna Greens in Scotland, reflecting a subtle nod to its historical roots. Today, it covers just over a square mile, with a single stoplight marking its quaint downtown, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustle of larger cities. The town’s location near the juncture of Routes 29 and 40 positions it as a potential hub for economic growth, yet it retains its small-town atmosphere. Gretna is part of the Danville Micropolitan Statistical Area, and its proximity to Smith Mountain and Leesville Lakes makes it appealing for those who enjoy outdoor recreation. Historically, the railroad played a significant role in its development, with the Lynchburg and Danville Railroad cutting through in the 1870s, followed by the Franklin & Pittsylvania Railroad. This heritage is still felt in the town’s layout and its sense of connection to the past. Local restaurants serve up “home-cooked” meals, and the community prides itself on its welcoming vibe, making it a quintessential slice of Southern hospitality. Gretna’s cultural and historical significance is further highlighted by landmarks like the Gretna Commercial Historic District and Yates Tavern, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nearby, Sharswood Plantation stands as a reminder of the area’s tobacco-farming past, a legacy that shaped much of Pittsylvania County. The town’s history is not without complexity—its origins tied to the Civil War and the practice of wealthy landowners paying substitutes to fight in their stead reflect a layered past. Yet, Gretna has evolved into a place that balances tradition with quiet progress, offering a glimpse into Virginia’s rural heritage while adapting to modern needs. Education and community pride shine through in Gretna, particularly with Gretna High School, where the football team has claimed five AA state championships. The school system, part of Pittsylvania County Public Schools, serves students from pre-K through 12th grade and is considered above average, providing a solid foundation for the town’s youth. The population is diverse in its own way, with ancestries including American, English, and African roots, according to demographic data. While many residents are retirees, there’s a mix of working families, with common job sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, and retail driving the local economy. The median property value hovers around $135,800, making it an affordable place to settle compared to national averages. Despite its charms, Gretna faces challenges familiar to small towns. Employment has seen declines in recent years, and some residents note safety concerns tied to occasional gang-related activity, though these issues don’t define the town’s character. With a sparse suburban feel, most folks rent rather than own their homes, and the average commute is about 24 minutes, suggesting many work in nearby areas like Danville or Lynchburg. Still, Gretna’s appeal lies in its resilience and simplicity—a place where history, community, and a touch of rural grit come together. It’s not a big thing, as the town’s slogan goes, but it’s growing, quietly carving out its place in Virginia’s tapestry. With a population of 1,585 as of the 2020 census, it embodies the charm of a tight-knit, rural community while being part of the Lynchburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town owes its name and origins to Jeremiah Rust, who in 1784 donated 50 acres of his land to establish the village, laying the foundation for what would become a historically significant locale. Situated along U.S. Route 501, Rustburg is conveniently located just 11 miles south of Lynchburg and 20 miles north of Brookneal, offering residents and visitors a peaceful retreat with easy access to larger urban centers. The historical roots of Rustburg run deep, reflected in its well-preserved landmarks and cultural heritage. One of its most notable sites is the Campbell County Courthouse, a Classical Revival structure built around 1848, which earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. The town’s origins trace back to the late 18th century when Jeremiah Rust’s land donation spurred the development of a village around a temporary courthouse and other public buildings. Over time, establishments like the Fountain Hotel, originally an inn started by Henry Finch in 1786, became central to community life, serving as a gathering place well into the 20th century. This blend of history and small-town appeal continues to define Rustburg’s identity. Education plays a vital role in Rustburg, with a range of public schools serving the community’s youth. Rustburg High School stands as the cornerstone for secondary education, supported by Rustburg Middle School, Rustburg Elementary School, Yellow Branch Elementary School, Fray Educational Center, and Campbell County Technical Center. These institutions cater to a variety of educational needs, from early childhood through technical training, and contribute to the town’s reputation for above-average public schooling. The proximity to Lynchburg, home to Liberty University, further enhances educational opportunities for residents seeking higher learning or cultural enrichment. Life in Rustburg offers a suburban-rural mix that appeals to those seeking tranquility and a strong sense of community. The town is known for its serene parks, family-friendly atmosphere, and frequent community events that celebrate its history and culture. Residents enjoy a quiet lifestyle surrounded by beautiful landscapes, with Long Mountain—once called Rust’s Mountain—providing a scenic backdrop. While the population density remains low at 132 people per square mile across its 10.8 square miles, the town maintains essential amenities like local banks, fast-food options, and grocery stores, ensuring convenience without sacrificing its peaceful character. Many retirees and conservative-leaning families find Rustburg an ideal place to call home. Despite its small size, Rustburg is not without its complexities. The town grapples with socioeconomic challenges, with 24.4% of residents living in poverty as of 2022, a figure that highlights disparities within the community. Historical weather events, such as the F3 tornado in 1966 and an F2 tornado in 2002, have also left their mark, though the area’s tornado activity remains below the Virginia average. Meanwhile, its location in a region with significant historical earthquake activity—above the state average—adds another layer of intrigue to its story. Yet, Rustburg persists as a resilient, welcoming town, where friendly residents and a rich past create a unique and enduring appeal. It was very cold, about twenty 28 degrees, we were time-constrained and hungry, and we seriously did not expect to find many restaurants open on Sunday Morning, and those that were, were very full. I recorded this on an iPhone 16 Pro with the Blackmagic Camera app, and if you are shooting 60 FPS 4K footage, it will literally just stop recording after 4 seconds. I will start shooting on my Nikon Z 6 II, it wont do that, but it is much heavier. Staunton, Virginia, nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, boasts a charming and well-preserved old town that reflects its rich history and vibrant culture. Founded in 1747, Staunton’s historic downtown, often referred to as Old Town, is a treasure trove of architectural beauty, with buildings dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The area’s cobblestone streets and brick sidewalks are lined with a mix of Federal-style, Victorian, and Gothic Revival structures, many of which have been meticulously restored. This preservation effort has earned Staunton a spot on the National Register of Historic Places, making it a destination for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. One of the standout features of Staunton’s Old Town is its thriving arts and culture scene, which contrasts beautifully with its historic backdrop. The American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Playhouse, a re-creation of Shakespeare’s indoor theater, is a crown jewel of the district, drawing theatergoers from across the region. Boutique shops, art galleries, and cozy cafes dot the streets, offering a blend of local craftsmanship and Southern hospitality. The area’s walkability enhances its appeal, encouraging visitors to explore landmarks like Trinity Episcopal Church, with its stunning Tiffany stained-glass windows, or the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library, which celebrates the legacy of the 28th U.S. President, born in Staunton in 1856. Beyond its aesthetic charm, Old Town Staunton has a lively community spirit that keeps it from feeling like a stagnant museum piece. Events such as the Staunton Music Festival and the Queen City Mischief & Magic festival—a Harry Potter-inspired celebration—bring the streets alive with music, food, and festivities throughout the year. Farmers’ markets and seasonal parades further cement its reputation as a hub of local life. It moves northeast through the city, emptying into Green Bay, which is an arm of Lake Michigan. The river extends approximately 200 miles in total, originating in south-central Wisconsin near Portage, and it drains a watershed covering about 6,429 square miles. The Fox River has played a crucial role in Green Bay's history and economy. It served as a key transportation route for Native Americans and early European settlers, facilitating trade and exploration. The river’s lower section, especially where it passes through Green Bay, became an industrial hub in the 19th and 20th centuries, particularly for the paper industry, earning the area the nickname "Paper Valley." Companies like Georgia-Pacific and Kimberly-Clark have long depended on the river for water supply and waste disposal. The river’s mouth in Green Bay is wide and navigable, supporting both shipping and recreational boating. It is spanned by several bridges, including the notable Walnut Street Bridge and the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge. Additionally, the Fox River State Recreational Trail runs parallel to the river, offering a scenic path for biking and walking through downtown Green Bay and beyond. Environmentally, the Fox River has faced numerous challenges. Decades of industrial activity have resulted in significant pollution, especially from polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) discharged by paper mills. Cleanup efforts have been ongoing since the late 20th century under the Superfund program, with dredgers removing contaminated sediment from the lower river. While progress has been made, the river’s ecosystem is still recovering, supporting fish such as walleye and perch, but with continuing advisories for consumption due to residual contamination pollutants. #explorewisconsin #PaulsBeenThere #GreenBay #FoxRiver #CityDeck #GreenBayWI #LakeMichigan #PaperValley #WisconsinWaterways #FoxRiverHistory Music From Audiio.com Artist Name: Allen & Bright Song Name: Lumiere (Instrumental) License #: 4184672782 Artist Name: Allen & Bright Song Name: Orion (Guitar Only)(Instrumental) License #: 5862603414 Artist Name: Carinthia Song Name: Red Wing (Instrumental) License #: 0609161540 Artist Name: Kevin Bean Song Name: Willow (Instrumental) License #: 2032489518 Artist Name: Nylon & Cedar Song Name: Waves of Grace (Instrumental) License #: 5561216428 ©2025 Kenbridge Cyber LLC

Founded in 1802, it was named after John Brooke and his wife, Sarah (née Neal) Brooke, who established a tobacco warehouse that became a pivotal point for commerce. The town's early development was closely tied to the Staunton River, which provided a vital transportation route for goods, particularly tobacco, in the era before railroads. Brookneal's strategic location near the river and its historic ferry crossing made it a commercial center for Campbell, Charlotte, and Halifax counties. Today, with a population just over 1,000, Brookneal retains its small-town charm while offering a glimpse into Virginia's past through its well-preserved historic sites. One of the most significant historical landmarks in Brookneal is the Red Hill Patrick Henry National Memorial, located near the town in Charlotte County. This site was the final home and burial place of Patrick Henry, Virginia's first governor post-statehood and a key figure in American history known for his "Give me liberty, or give me death!" speech. The memorial offers an interpretive experience where visitors can explore Henry's plantation home, his law office, and learn about his life and contributions to the American Revolution. The area around Brookneal, with its serene landscapes and historic sluices, also reflects the town's past as a hub for the transportation of goods by boat, with wooden bateaux once navigating the river's historic falls. The town's history is further encapsulated in its architecture and landmarks, many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Brookneal Historic District, for instance, includes over 100 buildings that showcase the town's development over the centuries. Notable among these are the Lewis Andrew Pick Birthplace, the Callaway-Smith House, and the Henderson Funeral Home, each contributing to the narrative of Brookneal's evolution from a colonial-era trading post to a quaint, modern town. The presence of these historic structures not only preserves the town's past but also attracts history enthusiasts to explore its heritage. Brookneal has faced economic challenges due to the decline of traditional industries like tobacco and textiles. This decline was marked by the closure of the Virginia Tobacco Co-Op and Dan River mill, which employed nearly 400 workers. In response, the town has pivoted towards agriculture, small-scale manufacturing, and tourism, leveraging its historical and natural assets. The Staunton River now serves as a recreational resource for fishing, kayaking, and swimming, enhancing Brookneal’s appeal as a scenic retreat. Despite its economic changes, Brookneal retains a vibrant community spirit, which is evident through local events and farmers' markets. Residents enjoy a rural lifestyle with outdoor activities like golf at Hat Creek and wine tasting at Sans Soucy Vineyards. The town's historical connection and support for local businesses create a unique blend of past and present, offering a peaceful, community-oriented living experience. #ExploreVirginia #PaulsBeenThere #SmallTownAmerica #Brookneal #smalltowncharm #TravelVirginia

Caps Off To Capron, Virginia | Walks on Main 017
The area around Capron has deep historical roots, notably with the Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia. The tribe inhabited the region long before European settlers arrived, and it has a rich history, from the first documented contact in the 17th century to the present. In the late 19th century, Capron grew into a town. The completion of the Atlantic & Danville Railroad in 1888 significantly contributed to its development, making the area more accessible and encouraging economic growth. By 1910, Capron was described as a "pleasant and thrifty little village" with a population of around 300, showcasing refined homes and industrious citizens. As of 2020, Capron had a population of 141 residents. The town encompasses 0.17 square miles, all of which are land. Despite its small size, Capron maintains a strong sense of community and preserves its historical charm. The Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia remains in the area. In 2012, they opened the Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia Community House & Interpretive Center in Capron, which serves as a cultural and educational hub that celebrates their rich history and traditions. I must believe that Capron will thrive moving forward. Urban sprawl from Richmond and Hampton Roads in the distant future could significantly affect the area and erase its long history. Slow Down and Explore Alberta, Virginia | Walks On Main 013
In 1928, Alberta was officially designated as an incorporated town. During that period, it was characterized by a vibrant array of hotels, boarding houses, and various enterprises catering to railroad workers and their support staff. The community was equipped with healthcare facilities, which included a physician’s office, a dental office, and a pharmacy. Educational institutions, ranging from elementary to high school. At the town’s center, one could find a supply store for farmers, a hardware establishment, and even a funeral home, all of which contributed to its dynamic and self-sufficient environment. In the late 1920s, the old Boydton Plank Road was upgraded and paved to create U.S. Highway 1, a major route from Maine to Florida. Restaurants, service stations, motels, and general stores popped up along the highway, making it a vibrant stop for travelers until the mid-1970s when the new interstate system rerouted much of the traffic away from the aging highway. By then, family farming was also declining, reducing the demand for local services. In the mid-1980s, the railroads pulled up their tracks, and the dress factories, a key part of the local economy, started closing as businesses moved south of the border. Between 1970 and 2000, Alberta's population declined significantly, from its peak of 466 to under 300. The next generation of Albertans left for college and rarely returned, lured away by the fast-paced lifestyle of the cities. Consequently, interest in the town diminished, leading to the retention of only memories of its once vibrant community past. Exploring Boydton's Hidden Gems on Main Street | Walks On Main 011
Boydton, Virginia, founded in 1812, is steeped in history as the county seat of Mecklenburg County. Once a lively center for trade, its historic district features antebellum and Victorian architecture. The Boyd Tavern, a 1790 inn, was a colonial travel stop and remains a landmark. However, like many rural Virginia towns, Boydton has struggled with an aging population, as younger residents move to cities for better job opportunities. In recent years, Boydton has transformed with the Microsoft Data Center's introduction in 2010. This established a turning point for the community, bringing new jobs, infrastructure, and an economic boost. Microsoft's expansion led to better technology access and increased investments in local resources. The data center created direct jobs and supported local businesses due to increased demand from employees and contractors. This corporate presence has given Boydton renewed purpose, fostering economic opportunities and encouraging a more vibrant future. The Microsoft Data Center has brought both benefits and challenges to the community. It attracts younger residents, revitalizing Boydton with new ideas, energy, and career opportunities that keep people in the area. Microsoft has collaborated with local government to enhance digital literacy, offering educational resources and supporting STEM programs for students. However, the rapid growth of this high-tech facility strains local infrastructure, raising concerns about the environmental and energy costs. The Microsoft Data Center has ignited interest in investment and modernization, with plans to improve infrastructure and amenities for a growing population. Audio gremlins made their presence known again, affecting the recording quality. I apologize for the tinny sound; I assure you, it wasn’t a tin can used as a mic—it's tucked away in storage. Galax, Virginia, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, has a rich Appalachian history. Founded in 1906, it developed around the lumber and furniture industries, utilizing local timber resources. Its name comes from the Galax plant, valued in floral arrangements. As the 20th century unfolded, Galax became famous for its traditional Appalachian music, especially bluegrass. The Galax Old Fiddlers' Convention, established in 1935, remains one of the largest gatherings of traditional musicians in the U.S., preserving the area’s musical heritage. The Blue Ridge Parkway enhanced Galax’s appeal, boosting tourism. The town thrived on both industry and recreation, enchanting visitors with its natural beauty. In the mid-20th century, as the furniture and textile industries waned, Galax adapted. Its historic downtown was revitalized, and cultural events like the Fiddlers' Convention continued to thrive. Recently, the city has focused on preserving its charm while modernizing its tourism infrastructure and promoting local arts. Today, Galax connects its past to the present through cultural events, such as live performances at the restored Rex Theater. Artisan crafts sold in local shops further celebrate Appalachian craftsmanship. Covington, Virginia, is a small city with a rich industrial and cultural history, closely tied to its location in the Allegheny Highlands. Founded in 1819, Covington developed around the railroad and the Jackson River, which facilitated the growth of its industrial base, especially with the establishment of the Westvaco paper mill in the early 20th century. This paper mill became a cornerstone of the local economy and still plays a significant role today. The city’s history is also reflected in its downtown architecture, which retains many early 20th-century buildings, showcasing the city's commercial growth during that era. Nashville, I Dont Know Why
I spent the week in Nashville for a conference, and after days of sitting through presentations and continuous networking, I finally squeezed out a couple of hours to explore "Honky Tonk Highway." Lower Broadway was everything I expected—over-the-top neon signs competing for attention and live music blaring from every doorway like they were trying to outdo each other in sheer volume. The streets were packed with tourists chasing their idea of the "Nashville experience," hopping from bar to bar, drinks in hand, with all the subtlety of a stampede. It felt more like a spectacle than an authentic dive into the city’s musical soul. I dutifully wandered through a few of the famous honky-tonks, hoping to catch a glimpse of what makes this place so legendary. Tootsie’s was as packed and chaotic as you'd expect, and while the live music was good, it was hard to shake the feeling that this whole stretch had become a caricature of itself—like country music’s theme park. Still, for what it was, the energy was undeniable. The crowd was loud, the drinks were overpriced, and everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives—whether they were there for the music or just the Instagrammable chaos. A couple of hours was more than enough, and as I returned to my hotel, I couldn’t help but think, “Well, I’ve done it. Checked that box.” #NashvilleAdventures #HonkyTonkHighway #BroadwayNashville #NeonLights #LiveMusic #Tootsies #NashvilleVibes #TouristLife #OverTheTopNashville #MusicCity #CountryMusic #ExploringNashville #NashvilleNights #NashvilleExperience #BarHopping #NashvilleTourism #MusicScene #CityOfMusic

Walks On Main 005: Drakes Branch Virginia
It has been a few years since I stopped and walked around Drakes Branch, maybe in 2014 or before. I remember it as a lovely town with a bit of an economy; businesses were open, most buildings were occupied, and there were some people. This time in 2024, I walked the length of downtown and never saw another person, it was literally a ghost town. I have to believe that the town’s troubles started in early 2005, with the closure of the textile plant located just North of downtown. I can only hope that Drakes can recover. Drakes Branch is a small, delightful town in Charlotte County, Virginia. With just over 500 residents, it embodies the classic characteristics of rural Virginia: a tight-knit community, historical roots, and scenic landscapes. The town's history dates back to the late 19th century, when it served as a hub for the railroad industry. Named after the nearby Drake’s Branch stream, the town flourished during the expansion of railroads in the region, which brought economic opportunities and facilitated the growth of agriculture and small businesses. Drakes Branch was particularly known for its tobacco farming, which played a significant role in the local economy for many years. Today, Drakes Branch retains its quiet, small-town charm. Its streets are lined with historic buildings, and the town's location amid rolling hills and farmland offers a peaceful, rural atmosphere. The community prides itself on its heritage, while Visitors enjoy taking leisurely drives through the scenic countryside. While the town itself is quiet, it is not far from larger areas like Farmville or South Boston, making it a pleasant retreat for those who appreciate rural living but also want access to more amenities and activities. Drakes Branch is a testament to Virginia’s rich agricultural and railroad history and offers a glimpse into the slower-paced life of rural communities in the state. ``` #ExploreVirginia #HeartOfVirginia #WalksOnMain #SmallTownVirginia #DrakesBranchHistory #RuralLifeRevival #GhostTownVibes #EconomicShifts #TextileIndustryImpact VirginiaCountryside #TobaccoTownLegacy #DrakesBranchToday #HistoricVirginia #RuralResilience #RailroadEra #QuietTownCharm #SouthernVirginiaRoots #HopesForRecovery

Walks On Main 003: Burkeville, Virginia
Despite its small size, Burkeville’s commitment to preserving its historical landmarks, particularly the railroad station, is a testament to its dedication to honoring its past and educating future generations about the vital role this seemingly modest town played in American history. Burkeville currently has no main street, but what remains of downtown extends about a half block south from 1st and Agnew Streets. Agnew Street is named after Ella Graham Agnew, the USDA’s first female field demonstration agent. I was headed South and decided to take a little side track through Burkeville. I saw an eastbound freight train pass through, and I decided to loop through the town quickly. As I passed over the tracks, I noticed a freight train with its lights on, and I felt it was getting ready to get underway, I was right. As I walked towards the track, I heard the horn, and the engine got louder, I thought, cool, who doesn’t like watching a big freight train going by. #ExploreVirginia #railfan #trains #trainvideo #freighttrain #railroad #locomotive
Walks On Main 002: Crewe Virginia, Railway Legacy
Crewe, Virginia, was founded in 1888 as a pivotal railroad town by the Norfolk and Western Railway (N&W). The town was strategically established to serve as a division point on the railroad, which was rapidly expanding during the late 19th century. Named after Crewe, England—a town with a significant railroad heritage—Crewe, Virginia, quickly developed around the extensive rail yard and locomotive repair shops. These facilities were essential for the maintenance of steam locomotives, making Crewe a vital cog in the N&W’s operations. The town's layout and growth were heavily influenced by the railroad, with homes, businesses, and community structures springing up to support the influx of railroad workers and their families. During the early 20th century, Crewe experienced a boom, becoming one of the most important railroad towns in the region. The rail yard employed thousands, and the town's economy thrived on the constant activity generated by the railroad industry. The sounds of steam engines, the hustle and bustle of the rail yard, and the steady stream of trains passing through were defining features of life in Crewe. The town's population grew rapidly, and its infrastructure expanded to accommodate the needs of the burgeoning community. Schools, churches, and other public institutions were established, reflecting the town's prosperous and optimistic outlook during this period. However, the mid-20th century brought significant changes to Crewe as the railroad industry began transitioning from steam to diesel engines. This shift reduced the demand for the extensive maintenance that steam locomotives required, leading to a gradual decline in the town's railroad-related jobs. As a result, Crewe's economy and population began to shrink, and the town faced the challenge of reinventing itself in a changing economic landscape. Despite these difficulties, Crewe's residents remained resilient, and efforts were made to preserve the town’s historical significance. In the latter half of the 20th century, Crewe focused on diversifying its economy and preserving its railroad heritage. The Crewe Railroad Museum, established to commemorate the town's rich history, became a key attraction, drawing visitors interested in the era of steam locomotives and the development of American railroads. The museum features vintage locomotives, historical artifacts, and exhibits that tell the story of Crewe’s role in the railroad industry. This emphasis on heritage tourism has helped Crewe maintain a connection to its past while adapting to the present. Today, Crewe is a small but proud town that honors its origins while looking forward to the future. Though the railroad no longer dominates the town's economy, the legacy of Crewe’s railroad past continues to shape its identity. The community remains close-knit, with a strong sense of pride in its history and a commitment to preserving the town’s unique character. Crewe’s journey from a bustling railroad hub to a quiet town with a rich heritage is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of its people. #ExploreVirginia #WalksOnMain #CreweVirginia, #RailroadHistory, #NorfolkAndWestern #RailwayHeritage, #SteamLocomotives, #RailroadTown #HistoricalPreservation, #HeritageTourism, #CreweRailroadMuseum #RailwayLegacy

Happiness Is Hranice
In the spring of 2023, we visited the East side of the Czech Republic, Primarily Olomouc. On the recommendation of a friend, we took a day trip to her hometown of Hranice na Moravia. She shared a recent news article about the stork’s return and how she enjoyed watching the storks from her family’s nearby apartment as a child. That is more than enough of a reason for us, and we have a very weird criterion for making travel decisions. We flew to Warsaw to buy handmade hairbrushes and Copenhagen for a pork belly sandwich (I would do it again). Don’t get me wrong, we have other reasons to go, but the trigger is usually really weak. Our biggest mistake in visiting Hranice was not allowing enough time—maybe an overnighter. It is a lovely little town with very few English speakers, and my Czech is questionable at best—ask my friend. I often apologized for making her ears bleed due to my terrible pronunciation. When I have to talk to someone in Czech and they have limited English, I always tell them “mluv se mnou, jako by mi byly tři roky” or “talk to me like I am a three-year-old” That always lightens up any situation I made a few logistical mistakes, like leaving my telephoto lens in Olomouc and not realizing until halfway through creating this video that many of the images and all the videos I shot were still embargoed as I took them on two cameras that I was beta testing at the time. I am beginning to think that I will never be able to publish them. Hranice is not for everyone if cannot understand or read Czech and don’t like testing the limits of your comfort zone, it may not be for you We are discussing the possibilities of returning to Hranice in 2025, I can hardly wait.

Pamplin City: Back From The Brink
Nestled in the heart of Virginia, Pamplin City holds a rich history that dates back to the mid-19th century. This quaint town, originally a humble stop along the Southside Railroad, played a significant role in the expansion of rail travel in the region. The Southside Railroad, a key line that later became part of the Norfolk and Western Railway, was integral to the town's early development. The story of Pamplin City truly began in 1854 when Nicholas Pamplin, a prominent figure of the time, generously donated land for the railroad line. This act of philanthropy set the stage for the town's growth and prosperity. In recognition of his contribution, the town was officially named Pamplin City in 1874, a tribute to the man who laid the groundwork for its establishment. During its heyday, Pamplin City flourished as a bustling hub of activity. The town boasted an array of hotels, banks, stores, and fashionable homes, attracting residents and visitors alike. It was a place where the community thrived, fueled by the steady flow of rail travelers passing through. A significant chapter in the town's history was written with the establishment of the Pamplin Pipe Factory. This factory became one of the largest producers of clay pipes in the United States, crafting pipes that were sought after across the country. The clay, sourced locally, was molded and fired to create pipes that were both practical and artistic. The factory not only provided employment to many residents but also put Pamplin City on the map as a center of craftsmanship and industry. However, as the golden age of rail travel waned, so did the fortunes of Pamplin City. The decline of the railroad industry in the mid-20th century led to a gradual decrease in the town's prominence. The once-vibrant streets and bustling businesses quieted, leaving behind echoes of a bygone era. The Pamplin Pipe Factory, once a thriving enterprise, eventually closed its doors as demand for clay pipes dwindled. Today, Pamplin City stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of its past. While the hustle and bustle may have faded, the town's rich history and the legacy of Nicholas Pamplin live on, reminding us of a time when the railroad and the Pamplin Pipe Factory were the lifeblood of the community. As we look back, we celebrate the journey of Pamplin City, from its vibrant beginnings to its place in the annals of history.

Vanishing Union Level, Virginia - What Happened?
Union Level, Virginia, is a small, unincorporated community in Mecklenburg County known for its historical significance and ghost town status. Once a thriving hub due to its strategic location along key trade routes and railroads, Union Level experienced a decline in the mid-20th century with the advent of automobile travel and shifts in agricultural practices. Today, it stands as a poignant reminder of the past, with abandoned buildings and deserted streets that attract history enthusiasts and visitors interested in exploring its eerie, nostalgic atmosphere. Efforts to preserve its cultural heritage highlight the town's importance in Virginia's rural history.
Stargazer Lily Time Lapse - 9 Hours In 3 Minutes
I have been trying to get this for the past few weeks, and the flowers have been messing with me. Blooming when I was gone, not blooming when I had cameras pointing at them. Finally, I was opening the front door this morning, so that cat can watch the world go by, his favorite past-time, I saw them just about ready to bloom. I did not have a lot of time to get set up, since I had some work commitments, so I apologize in advance. Yes, I understand this is not travel-related. These are two Stargazer Lily flowers blooming over a period of eight hours. This is my first time doing a time-lapse of flowers blooming, and I hope you enjoy it.
Exploring Hillerød on Foot: The REAL Denmark
On a beautiful day, we took a leisurely stroll through the charming town of Hillerød in Denmark, starting from the magnificent Frederiksborg Castle and ending at the train station. With a population of approximately 37,000, Hillerød exudes a peaceful atmosphere that is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our visit took place on April 24th, when the sun shone brightly, and a slight chill lingered in the air, adding to the tranquility of the surroundings. The grandeur of Frederiksborg Castle left me in awe, and I found myself wishing for more time to delve deeper into the town's rich history and explore the beautiful castle grounds. I hope to return in the future to indulge in a more extensive exploration of this captivating destination. If you ever find yourself in Copenhagen, I can't recommend enough taking the train and spending a day exploring this beautiful city. This was my first time editing with LumaFusion, I know I have more to learn, but I am trying.
SAS Flight 925 Highlights 2x speed
Highlights of my recent flight on SAS Flight 925 on April 25, 2024, departing CPH to IAD. Seat 25H on this A-330 is not the best seat to make a video from due to the window alignment, but I did my best. The aircraft is an 8-year-old Airbus A330 LN-RKS. If you have never made a trans-oceanic flight, just loop this about 60 times, and you get the idea of just how boring long flights can be. :-) This was shot on a DJI Osmo Pocket 3, at 60 frames per second and rendered at 120 frames per second. Approach and landing at Dulles, coming soon.
Why the Frederiksborg Castle Chapel Organ is INCREDIBLE
The organ in the chapel of Frederiksborg Castle in Denmark stands as a magnificent testament to the splendor and architectural ingenuity of the early 17th century. Constructed during the reign of King Christian IV, this chapel, and its organ, were integral parts of what is considered the most exemplary Renaissance castle in Scandinavia. The organ itself, originally built in 1610, was painstakingly crafted by the renowned Flemish organ builder Esaias Compenius. It is a masterful creation, embodying both artistic and acoustic excellence, a jewel in the crown of Danish cultural heritage. The organ's facade is a striking feature, adorned with intricately carved wooden figures and ornamental details that echo the lavishness of the chapel's interior. Its pipes, richly decorated, produce a sound that resonates through the chapel with clarity and depth, enveloping listeners in a profound musical experience. Notably, the organ has been restored several times to maintain its original character and functionality, ensuring that it continues to enchant visitors and worshipers alike. Today, the organ not only serves as a functional musical instrument for religious services and concerts but also stands as a historical artifact, representing a period when artistry and craftsmanship were paramount. Its enduring presence in Frederiksborg Castle Chapel attracts scholars, musicians, and tourists, all drawn by its historical significance and its breathtaking sonic qualities. This organ not only encapsulates the artistic aspirations of a bygone era but also continues to be a source of inspiration and awe in the modern age.
Danish Getaway: Escape from Copenhagen
On April 25, 2024, I boarded SAS Flight 925 from Copenhagen to Washington Dulles, settling into seat 25H. Though the window alignment wasn't ideal for filming, I aimed to capture the essence of the journey aboard the eight-year-old Airbus A330, LN-RKS. As we taxied towards Runway 22R, the engines roared to life, and the aircraft gracefully lifted off, offering a fleeting view of Copenhagen's twinkling lights as we ascended. Despite having to cut the first minute of my recording due to background music, the takeoff was thrilling, with the city's glow gradually fading beneath us. As we climbed higher into the evening sky, the last hints of twilight gave way to a star-filled night. The serene ambiance was complemented by the Airbus A350's modern systems, casting a warm glow inside the cabin. While my seat's view was limited, the experience of witnessing the takeoff and the transition to night was captivating. Despite the minor setbacks, SAS Flight 925 provided a memorable journey, highlighting the magic of flight and the unique perspectives it offers.
Kenbridge Short 001
I do an awful lot of where I've been, I thought I should do some of where I live, so here is the first installment of “**Paul Lives There.**” I live in "Charming Kenbridge, Virginia,” as the new sign downtown states. We used to be just Kenbridge, but we have recently become Charming Kenbridge. We are a small town of around 1,200 souls, located in Lunenburg County in Southside Virginia, roughly mid-way between Richmond, VA, and Raleigh, NC. Not quite the town we used to be, but we are working to get some of that past glory back. How to get to [Kenbridge](https://maps.app.goo.gl/u16QdjBKbGtk9TeT6). #shorts #virginia #southside

The Little Mermaid Time Lapse
The constant flow of people needing their Instagram selfies with The Little Mermaid. For those that don't know: The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen Harbor is a famous and iconic sculpture that has become synonymous with the Danish capital. Perched gracefully on a rock at the Langelinie promenade, this bronze statue depicts a mermaid becoming human, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairy tale "The Little Mermaid." Unveiled in 1913, the statue was a gift from Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen to the city of Copenhagen. Sculpted by Edvard Eriksen, it measures just 1.25 meters tall, creating a subtle yet poignant presence. Over the years, the statue has not only been a major tourist attraction but has also endured vandalism and restorations, reflecting its significant cultural and historical value. It's often admired for its artistry and the poignant story it represents.
Amalienborg Time-Lapse
The houses at Amalienborg are open for tours when the queen is not in residence, apparently, the queen was in residence because the houses were not open, nor was Frederik's Church. This was my first-ever visit to an actual monarchy, was initially surprised to see the royal guards doing their royal guard stuff in traditional uniforms. There was some activity, and it appeared that there may be a change of the guard soon, but it happened much later
Trinitatis Church Organ
This might be a bit too much, and it did sound much better in Person. Trinitatis Church was completed in 1651 to be part of a building complex for the University of Copenhagen. The Church was commissioned in 1637 by King Christian the 4th. I believe the Organ was added after the fire in 1730

St. Josephs Church Kraków, Poland
This is the beautiful St. Josephs Church, on the South side of the Vistula River on Podgórski Market Square. The church was built between 1904 and 1909, the consecration of the church occurred on October 24, 1909. The church was renovated to its current form in 1978. This is an absolutely gorgeous church, and if you happen to visit Kraków, I recommend a visit. I am trying something new here with animating my stills, all the images are in order of our visit, please let me know what you think good or bad. Approaching Rynek Glowny Krakow and pigeons
Spent most of the day just wandering around Kraków, with no particular destination, we ended up on Rynek Glowny or the Main Market square. WE found a place to sit and watch and listen to the surroundings while enjoying our Obwarzanek krakowski (Kraków Bagels). My wife was not a big fan and she found a gimpy pigeon with a messed up eye, and decided to feed it, and you know you cannot just feed one pigeon. The two of them did a pretty good job of keeping the majority of the other birds away, as the bird really had no fear of us, where the other birds did. My plan was to create a time-lapse of activity on the square, but that was taken over by pigeon activities.
Stills and Plac Wolnica Krakow Timelapse
We took a walk-up Mostowa street, from Father Bernatek's footbridge. I took some stills along the way and finished with a time-lapse while sitting on a bench in the square, waiting on my wife, who was shopping at Art Cherubino. Art Cherubino is a small store specializing in hand-made items related to angels and such.

Heroes of Heydrich Terror
On the 81st anniversary of the gun battle. The National Memorial to the Heroes of Heydrich Terror is located in the underground of the Orthodox cathedral of St. Cyril and Methodius. After the successful assassination of Reinhard Heydrich by Jozef Sabik and Jan Rubí, the seven Czech paratroopers hid in this churches catacombs. Adolf Opalka, Jozef Gabčik, Jan Kubiš, Josef Valčik, Josef Bublik, Jan Huby and Jaroslav Svarc were the seven Czech paratrooper heroes, who lost their lives that day, at the hands of the Nazis. I wish I could share more here, but I would rather not upset the powers that be, so you can find more here. https://paulsbeenthere.com/index.php/2023/05/20/beautiful-prague-saturday/#prague-saturday https://www.vhu.cz/en/the-national-memorial-to-the-heroes-of-the-heydrich-terror/ Music: 'Beyond These Walls' by Scott Buckley - released under CC-BY 4.0. www.scottbuckley.com.au #CzechRepublic #Prague #Praha #Museum #anthropoid #1942
Discover the Beautiful Tappahannock Loop
A roughly 80 mile (ca. 129 km) loop starting in Tappahannock up to Port Royal, crossing the Rappahannock river, and down through Leedstown to 360 and back to Tappahannock finishing at the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge for a beautiful sunset. I had not intended to do any video this trip, but as I looked at the pictures I took, they had a bit of a story to tell. I wish I had taken more pictures at some of the other stops, but Vauters Church was gorgeous, and the sunset came out great. We initially went seeking a spot to photograph the sunset from the East bank of the river, but we have not been in this area in years. On the map, Leedstown looked very promising, unfortunately there was no place to park, and it was all posted no trespassing. We "settled" for the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge, which turned out to be perfect. This is my first attempt doing this, and I intend to do more of it, but plan it out.
